From C.J.: “As a trainer I’m all too familiar with people telling me why they’re waiting. They’re waiting on Monday. Waiting on their calendar to clear up. Waiting to get past the holidays. Waiting to find the perfect gym, the perfect shoes, the perfect timing, and the perfect meal plan. These are the “someday” people that have ninja-level excuse-creation. And novice-level execution. The StoryAthlete knows that “Someday” can’t be found on any calendar. The circumstances are never going to be perfect. So get comfortable with the discomfort. And take action now.”
Tonight, I was watching a new-to-me Youtube series called, “Blue Collar Millionaire”. There are great nuggets to glean from each episode.
In the episode I watched tonight, the successful business owner has a mancave with the words “No Some Day” emblazoned on a pseudo ship hull. Then he has a real boat ($500,000) that he also christened, “No Some Day.”
He said that is his motto. For years he heard people say, “Some day, I’ll retire to the Caribbean. Some day, I will buy a boat.” etc.
But he has decided that if a thing is worth doing, it’s worth doing NOW. For him, there is no some day, there is only now.
Now, I don’t have half a million to splurge on a boat (and I wouldn’t want one if I did), but I can apply that principle to my own life in other ways – holding hands with my husband, spending time with my kids one-on-one, volunteering, etc.
We can never take life for granted. There is no ‘someday’. There is only today. Make the most of it.
